Interfaith Committee

Goals: Provide a forum for stakeholders of different faiths to work together to improve the community.

Progress report: Ms. Chelebian said that they had their first meeting. She said Pastor Eric Thomas, from Christ Community Church attended and was appointed along with Marsha Novak from the Valley Interfaith Council. She said that she had met with the LAPD Interfaith Council representative and he will have to discuss the offer of a seat with his superiors before he can commit to the committee. She has also met with a local Hindu temple and they have appointed Ms. Natarajan. She is still contacting other organizations.

She said that she does not think they will have a meeting this month pending more outreach. Ms. Chelebian asked that we have add a seat to allow Sikhs to have a separate representative since they are a separate religion WNC-041008-09: The WNC will expand the Interfaith Committee to 13 from 11 members.
